Next, you will login to the virtual waiting room through the provided link for video chat or wait for my call to you to connect us. I can provide my contact information in case of any technical difficulties.
During this brief call, I will ask questions regarding your current situation and what you’re looking to get out of therapy. I will share with you some of the approaches I might explore to support you while you get a feel for who I am as therapist.
If you are interested in EMDR intensives, extended sessions, or Walk & Talk therapy, we will explore these options as a part of your care.
If it’s a match, we’ll discuss scheduling, session frequency, client portal and paperwork & cost for services.
If it’s not the best fit, that’s ok! I’ll do my best to provide you with alternative providers who might fit your needs.

-
We’ll take time to settle in, review our prior session and between session work, identify next areas to work on, process, integrate interventions and explore application, review the session and identify skills and short term goals to focus on between sessions.
-
I’ll provide you with necessary assessments/paperwork prior to your 1st intensive session to gather more information on your history, background, relationships and readiness to process.
We’ll start the 1st session by reviewing your assessments/paperwork, priming your brain and body for processing. Next, we'll ensure readiness to process and create a supportive and grounding environment for you to process.
Once ready, I’ll implement the EMDR protocol and support you through processing as many adverse/traumatic events as possible during a 3 hour session to include scheduled and requested breaks. We’ll check in, confirm scheduling for the next intensive, and review your affect management and self-care skills.
Proceeding sessions with pick up where you left off and continue processing to minimize disruptions and allow for more effective, deeper processing.

Together, we identify current challenges and connections to stress, trauma, and/or neurodiversity. Through exploration of the problem, we’ll identify current efforts to connect and work together and barriers for success. I’ll share new perspectives with supporting input, provide psychoeducation as needed, and help find common ground. We’ll work as a team to explore the ways stress, trauma and/or neurodivergence are impacting the relationship and how to better support the individual and relational needs of all involved.
This is relational therapy for those looking for licensed mental health counseling who uses clinical and human intuition to help foster connection, cohesion, and healthy interpersonal relationship dynamics. I am not trained/certified in any specific modality and am happy to connect you with a professional who is if you prefer a more structured approach.
The heart of therapy is being human - I keep it real
Creating a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed space within High Point Counseling PLLC means embracing and encouraging the full expression and all parts of your human experience.
I invite you to show up and talk too fast, stumble on your words, and share half-baked thoughts. Name the disconnect from your body or emotions, fidget, express yourself through artistic or creative means, get up and move your body or anything else that helps you show up and do this work together.
Some days you might show up bright, humorous, excited to talk about your recent wins, or super enthusiastic about sharing your newest interest. Other days, you may show up angry, on the brink of tears or find yourself stuck or shut down, like you just can’t find the words. Sometimes polished, sometimes rough around the edges.
I’m here for all versions of you.
Whatever the state or challenges, however deep or incidental the challenge, I aim to create the space and give you the supportive energy you need to do the work you’re here to do.
I invite you to optimize this space. Bring in your breathe work practices, mindfulness exercises, yoga stretches, coloring books or wear your comfortable clothes. Sit however feels natural, snack if you need to eat… this space is meant to meet your needs.
I am animated in nature and use humor, sarcasm, metaphors, analogies and sometimes even swear. I show my grit, pause to think, occasionally stumble on my words, adjust my position and use fidgets. Embracing my real self allows us to truly connect authentically and I hope it invites you to be your authentic self, too.
