Caity McConnell as a LPC:

I offer down-to-earth, person-centered support with a genuine positive regard because I know this is what’s needed to unpack neurodivergence, stress and trauma. I believe in supportive empowerment to help you to determine your own unique recipe for growth, healing and self-actualization. I’m here to help you uncover practical tools, fresh perspectives, and an increased sense of awareness and insight to help you move forward with intention.

As a licensed clinical mental health counselor with over 11 years of experience working in mental health care, educational and lifelong personal experience, I blend evidence-based techniques, conventional and atypical interventions, genuine connection and unique, personalized strategies to make sessions feel natural, safe, productive and tailored to your needs.

Together, we'll tackle the challenges in your life and celebrate every win, big or small.

I am a late-in-life-diagnosed neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+ therapist passionate about providing support for stress, trauma and neurodivergence by filling the gaps in our health care system and creating an inclusive and safe space for self-exploration, problem-solving, healing, growth and personal and relational development. Collaboration, curiosity and genuine care drives everything I do.

The backstory:

Filling the gaps and adapting traditional and conventional strategies

Throughout my life, my neurodivergent indicators were accepted as “quirks”, treated as isolated pieces or overlooked due to an academic and social track record indicating “success”. But my success was built on a nervous system running on overdrive in an effort to adapt and fit in.

After relocating to Colorado on my own as a Mountain/Midwest mutt, I continued to pursue my career in mental health, seemingly thriving in high-stress environments. But I knew I wasn’t and felt I was missing something. Stress manifesting as anxiety and depression was minimally responsive to traditional strategies- I needed something different.

Realizing neurodivergent and complex people were generally overlooked or outright excluded during research and the formation of many interventions and approaches, I set my mind to figuring out what would actually work. After years of applied efforts striving to fill in the gaps within standardized care, I learned how to adapt traditional therapy skills to develop my own recipe of wellness.

Digested information turned to intuition, nervous system regulation & a recipe for wellness

These days, I can use my emotions as the cues they are to take better care of myself with skills that work for my brain and body. I feel more whole, present, lighter, connected, capable and actually thriving. My relationships are fulfilling, my work fits my strengths, I have freedom in my life to do the things that are important to me, less fear expressing and exploring my authentic self and confidence to take on the unavoidable challenges life presents while acknowledging my weaknesses. This journey underlies my drive to support people like you who want to build systems that actually work for your body and mind.

I designed High Point Counseling PLLC, a space created thoughtfully and with care, to give you what you’ve been missing from standardized care. Thriving shouldn’t be limited to those with the privilege to become an “expert” in mental wellness. Your growth, healing and progress shouldn’t be confined by insurance carriers, our health system, or standardized care.

“High Point Counseling is a space where I help you become an expert on you to unlock your full potential.”
